The [N22 and N8] seem to pick up pleasing character and intimacy to sources while leaving out the squirrely harshness of guitar amps and shrillness of cymbals.
"AEA Microphones, specifically the N8 Stereo Pair, coupled with the RPQ2, give me the exact warmth, transparency and detail that I had been searching for!"
“The R88 is a magic microphone and captures music in a unique way that I've come to rely on. I use it on drums, acoustic guitar, piano, and any instrument I want to sound like it's in the room with the listener.”
“I use my R88 on every record I make. It’s often found over or around the drum kit, on piano, used as an ensemble mic to capture a stereo spread, and even on acoustic guitar. I love it and couldn’t imagine not having it around."
"I love my R88! The stereo imaging is incredible and the depth of field I can achieve in my recordings is pretty stunning. The top end is beautifully natural sounding, especially for drum overheads and piano."
"The R84 has made a ribbon believer out of me. Never before have I heard a ribbon mic sound so good on so many things: strings, brass, acoustic guitar, choir, even solo voice."
"The R88’s got such a great stereo image without a hole in the middle, it just seems like its full all the way across and vibrant and lively sounding."
"The 44 is easily my favorite mic for capturing a true representation of any instrument. I find that it has the ability to grab every detail of an entire drum kit without the need for any close mics."
"We credit much of our sound in the studio to AEA microphones. They have shaped our sound from the very beginning, and without them our record wouldn't have had quite the same character and earnestness. "
"AEA Microphones, specifically the N8 Stereo Pair, coupled with the RPQ2, give me the exact warmth, transparency and detail that I had been searching for!"
"[The N8s] are magnificent for guitar amps, vocals, brass, and stringed instruments! They have a good deal of top end, yet are never harsh. Smooth. Very smooth!"
